Europe and the sea in time and space

Term: 1st semester

Europa e o mar 2020 ptThis course, for masters and doctoral students, offers an interdisciplinary vision between Europe and the Sea in European society; it addresses the civilizational, cultural and political dimensions of European maritime communities.

Students will also study the economic and political dimensions of the maritime industries and the context of EU Integrated Maritime Policy.

Objectives:

1) To develop a renewed, critical attention to maritime geographies and their inter-sectorial implications of maritime policies in contemporary times, with an historical perspective;

2) To overcome conceptual boundaries through research openness and imagination in order to enable critical dialogue concerning political and environmental transition in the maritime domain.
